Road accidents due to fog kill four

Four persons were killed in three separate road accidents at different places in Rangpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts on Saturday.

Police officials cited fog as a prime reason for the accidents, says BSS.

In Rangpur, helper of a truck was killed after his over-loaded truck overturned and fell into a roadside ditch this morning at Tabil village under Ramnathpur union of Badarganj upazila.

"The deceased person was identified as Mahbubur Rahman, 30, of village Kuthirpara under Harirampur union of the same upazila," said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badarganj Police Station Md Akhteruzzaman.

In Thakurgaon, two passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot after being hit by a speedy truck at Sattyapeer Bridge point on the Thakurgaon-Rangpur highway under Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

"The deceased persons were identified as Shovan, 22, of village Nischintopur under Sadar upazila and Ruhul Amin, 35, of village Harita Sundarpur under Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon," said OC of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Abdul Latif.

In another accident, a motorcycle rider was killed and his companion injured when a truck hit their motorcycle at Boda Bypass point on the Panchagarh-Boda highway under Boda upazila in Panchagarh at 2 pm.

The deceased was identified as Mahfuzur Rahman, 28, of Dhakkamara village and the injured youth is Mazedul Islam Babu, 30, of Purbo Jalashi village under Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

"Police rescued Babu and rushed him to Boda Upazila Health Complex from where he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital," OC of Boda Police Station AKM Nurul Islam said.

Three separate cases were filed in these connections with the respective police stations, police said.
