35 cops injured as bus plunges into ditch

Thirty five policemen were injured as a bus carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in central bus terminal area of Kushtia on Saturday night.

The bus carrying 40 policemen plunged into the ditch as the driver lost control over the steering and hit a roadside tree while giving side to a truck around 10:30 pm.

Additional Superintendent of Kushtia Police Joynul Abedin said after getting information fire service members rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.

Among the injured, the condition of five policemen was critical, said Taposh Kumar Sarker, medical officer of Kushtia general hospital.

UNB says, most of the injured policemen are from Barisal Range Police and they were returning after performing their duty for President Abdul Hamid at Shilaidaha Kuthibari, said the police official.
