Case filed over attack on DUJA secretary

A case was filed in connection with an attack on Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) General Secretary Md Imran Hossain.

Imran Hossain filed a case with Maheshpur police station of Jhenaidah naming three people and 6-7 unidentified ones including a Union Parshad (UP) member on assault charge, UNB reported.

Confirming the matter, officer in charge of Maheshpur police station Md Saiful said, "We received the complaint from the victim. We will take necessary measures following an investigation.”

The accused who were named in the case are UP member Md Abdul Aziz ,57, a member of Ward No 2 at Banshbaria UP under Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district, his son, Md Sagar Hossain, 22, and Ismail Hossain, 35, of the same union.

Victim Imran was undergoing treatment at Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex as he suffered serious injuries in the attack by the accused.

“My brother needed more than five stitches in his head,” said Akram Hossain, younger brother of Imran, a third-year student of English Department of Dhaka University.

The incident took place following the distribution of meat among poor people on the evening of Eid-ul-Adha.
