A wheelchair attendant of Biman Bangladesh Airlines illegally went to Chattogram on its own flight from Dhaka on Thursday morning while helping a passenger with boarding, which allegedly happened due to a mistake on the part of the cabin crew.

The attendant Ataur is now under the custody of Biman security staff.

The incident has again triggered much concern and criticism about the safety standard, and professionalism of flight operators and crew on the domestic routes just four days after a man was arrested with arms and ammunition while crossing the green channel at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The Chattogram-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG 411 was scheduled to depart at 7:40 AM. There were nine business class passengers and 144 economy class passengers. There were two pilots and five cabin crew aboard.

The name of the captain is Wazed.

A source at the Dhaka airport said the passenger taking wheelchair facility does not have a leg. That's why, the attendant took more time to settle him in the seat. But the cabin crew closed the door of the aircraft Boeing 737, leaving him inside.

Sensing this, the attendant shouted and ran to the door to get out. But the cabin crew stopped him and seized his phone to hide their mistakes, the source added.
