BGB nab ‘hundi trader’ at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in a raid arrested a suspected hundi trader along with Tk 2.85 million from Benapole Railway Station area in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Tuesday.


The arrestee was identified as Sree Subrata Kumar Datta, 32, son of late Sushil Datta of Krishna Nogor village in Jhikargacha upazila, reports UNB.


Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted the drive at Benapole Railway Station and arrested Subrata while he was returning from India with the illegal currencies.


During the drive, BGB men recovered Tk 2.85 million from his possession, said Subeder Safiqur Rahman, company commander of 49 BGB battalion.


A case was filed in this connection.
