The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Jeddah organised a two-day visit  to Jizan, the city of the northwest region in Saudi Arabia to provide necessary services to workers as many of them were facing different kinds of troubles, consulate sources said.

More than 0.1 million Bangladeshi workers are staying with jobs there. A significant number of them are engaged in agricultural works while many others in construction and driving, they said.

The visit was concluded on Saturday. A team of 17 officials went to the place and provided different types of services including reissue, renewal and delivery of Machine-Readable-Passport (MRP).

Workers had been delivered supports regarding special exit programme, travel permit, registration and issuing membership card under Wage Earners’ Welfare Broad.

They also had been provided with necessary legal aids during the visit.

Because of the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bangladeshis staying in that area of the Arab country faced troubles over their jobs and wages. The team also has addressed the problems.
