Another Abrar murder accused put on five-day remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed another accused in the Abrar Fahad murder case on a five-day remand.

The accused is ASM Najmus Sadat son of Hafizur Rahman of Kalai Uttar Para in Joypurhat district and a student of Mechanical Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).

Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Morshed Al Mamum Bhuiyan passed the order when investigation officer of the case Md Wahiduzzaman sought a 10-day remand for him for interrogation.

On October 15, detectives arrested FIR-listed accused Sadat from Katlabazar in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of Buet, was beaten to death on October 7 reportedly by Chhatra League leaders at its Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

Abrar’s father, Barkatullah, filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station in the city against 19 people.

Twenty people have so far been arrested in connection with the murder, reports UNB.
