A Dhaka court has granted police three days to interrogate two suspects in the death of a house help.

Laili Begum, who worked at an apartment at Dhaka’s Banasree, was rushed to hospital by her employer Munshi Moinuddin on Friday, where the doctor's declared her dead.
Moinuddin claimed the 26-year-old killed herself.

He has told the police that Laili had locked herself inside a room of his home after coming to work in the morning.

As she did not respond to calls, the door was broken down and her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan, he claimed.

As soon as the news of her death broke, agitators blocked the 7-storey building owned by Moinuddin and set fire to a car parked in front of it.

Police intervened when the clash erupted.

Amid the clashes, the police detained Moinuddin, his wife Shahnaz and security guard Tofazzal Hossain Tipu.

Later on Friday, Laili’s family filed a murder case against Moinuddin.

Police started a case over the clashes against the three and four to five other unidentified people.

On Saturday, police produced Moinuddin and Tipu in court and pleaded for a 7-day remand. The court, however, granted three days, according to bdnews24.com.
