UGC urges big industries to facilitate higher study, research

Officials at the University Grants Commission (UGC) urged the local and multinational industries to come forward to facilitate higher education and scope for research in the country.

“The government is currently focusing on quality higher education as there is no alternative to investing in research to build a developed nation and achieve technological advancement”, said UGC member Prof Muhammed Alamgir.

He called upon the big organisations including Grameenphone (GP) to come forward to provide research assistance.

Prof Alamgir of UGC made the remarks when a team of GP paid the former a courtesy call at his office on Monday.

Professor Alamgir called for maintaining affordable internet facility in online education even after the reduction of the ongoing pandemic situation in the country.

He also emphasised the need to focus on the technical aspects of GP's network.

GP also expressed interest in providing assistance in the field of research in higher education. The UGC has called for allocating funds for research for Masters, MPhil and PhD programmes.

UGC and GP high officials were present during the visit.
