BGMEA president seeks cooperation from stakeholders for RMG industry

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan has sought the support and cooperation of all stakeholders to make use of the opportunities that have been created for the RMG industry.

Both challenges and opportunities lie ahead of the garment industry – close cooperation and concerted efforts of all players from their respective positions will help to create a brighter future of the industry, he said.

The BGMEA chief made the remarks while speaking at an Iftar and Doa Mahfil organised by BGMEA for buyers, media personalities and top officials from banks and insurance companies at Hotel Westin in Dhaka on Monday, reports UNB.

Faruque Hassan said in its journey of about four decades, the RMG industry of Bangladesh has secured a prestigious position as a safe, sustainable and ethical sourcing destination in the world.

“The achievements of our industry not only make us proud but also inspire us to dream bigger. We have potential and we can make it a reality with the support of all,” he said.

The BGMEA President also said the role of the garment sector in materializing the vision of building a more prosperous Bangladesh is more important than ever.

“The RMG industry not only propelled the growth of backward linkage industries including spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing and accessories, but also contributed to other economic sectors like banking, insurance, real estate, hotels and tourism, consumer goods utility services and transportation,” he remarked.

Hence, given the importance of the RMG industry on socioeconomic development, all should join hands to drive the industry forward in a sustainable manner, he added.

BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Vice President (Finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, Directors Asif Ashraf, Faisal Samad, Abdullah Hil Rakib, Rajiv Chowdhury, Barrister Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md. Imranur Rahman, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Press, Publication & Publicity Shovon Islam, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Trade Fair Mohammed Kamal Uddin and Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on UD-Woven & Knit Md. Nurul Islam were present at the Iftar Mahfil.
