Two Netrakona Razakars get death for war crimes

Two local collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces from Netrokona were sentenced to death for war crimes on Wednesday.

The convicts are: Hedayetullah alias Anju BSc and Shohrab Fakir.

A three-member International Crimes Tribunal bench, headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam, delivered the verdict.

Shohrab is behind bars while Hedayetullah is on the run. Hedayetullah's brother Manju was also accused in the case but he was acquitted following his death in 2017.

Six charges, including murder, mass killing, torture, abduction, and arson were brought against them, according to a UNB report.

ICT investigation team looked into the allegations and submitted a report on September 8, 2016. Charges were pressed against the war criminals on December 14, 2017.

A total of 40 people were made witnesses in the case. The closing arguments in the case finished on March 7.
