Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has asked Chittagong city leaders of his party and student wing to settle disputes soon.

"Our leader (Sheikh Hasina) has told me that she doesn't want to see any negative news on Chittagong Chhatra League in newspapers," he said.

The road transport and bridges minister came up with the statement while speaking at a rally commemorating former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor and city AL president ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury at Laldighi Maidan in the city.

Quader asked the city and district units of Awami League to resolve their disputes and unite the party.

He asked them to work to ensure party's victory in the next general election.

About Mohiuddin, the ruling party leader said the vacuum created following his death will never be filled.

Acting president of Chittagong city AL Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the rally.

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, its Organising Secretary and Mohiuddin's son Mahibul Hasan Nawfel and CCC Mayor AJM Nasiruddin were also present.
