Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon on Thursday said Dr Kamal Hossain’s main issue is not the general election but the release of Begum Khaleda Zia and her corrupted son Tarique Rahman.

“Dr Kamal is betraying with the nation as his comments on sheaf of paddy (the electoral symbol of BNP), Begum Zia and Tarique were totally against BNP. Now, he has formed alliance with BNP against the government which is ridiculous,” he said, speaking at a view-exchange meeting with nurses and third and fourth class employees of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in the city.

Menon said BNP and Oikyafront are issuing threats over the polls. “We hope that they will take part in the 11th parliamentary election shunning the path of violence,” he added, reports BSS.

Menon, also the social welfare minister, said the government has reached the health services to the doorsteps of the common people and promised to establish a medical university at every division, he added.

Awami League leaders GM Arif, Farid Uddin Ratan, Haji Monowar and Abdur Rab, among others, were present at the meeting with DMCH fourth class employees union president Abu Sayeed in the chair.

Earlier, Menon exchanged views with the doctors of DMCH.
